I have put off getting this thing going for too long now.
Let's start with music. The new Alice in Chains album is my favorite of the year so far. Layne Staley, the former lead singer of AiC, committed suicide in 2002. As a result I was skeptical that the band could muster up anything worth listening to with their new singer William DuVall. Boy was I wrong. Each song oozes the AiC groove and passion that so many angst-filled teenagers identified with in the 90s. William DuVall channels Staley in an almost eerie way. The similarities are uncanny and I can not wait to get the opportunity to see him live. If you are an Alice in Chains fan or just a fan of good music in general, pick up Black Gives Way to Blue.
Moving on to getting back in shape. I am finally getting back to the gym. My friend Kyle and I are going every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 7:30AM. While it is not easy to get up that early for no reason other than to beat up your body with heavy things, it feels great. My long dormant muscles and various body parts are definitely waking up. I have been so sore that I'm currently walking like I have a flagpole in my rectum, but no pain, no gain, right?
I am back to school. I took a pretty light schedule this semester. I am in Personality Theory, Camping and Cooking, Human Genetics, and Macroeconomics. The three classes aside from Genetics are painfully easy. By painfully I mean that they are so easy it's hard to motivate myself to do the busy work involved in getting the easy A. Macroeconomics is at least somewhat interesting. I took the class because I feel like I know very little about economics and always feel at a loss when I am in a discussion about the world's current financial woes. Genetics is interesting to the point that it has now become my backup plan to medical school. What a fascinating and promising field of science.
I apologize for the complete lack of direction in this first post, but I just wanted to get things rolling.
